How to Restore

Oct 23, 2012 at 10:43 AM

If you use this script to make a full backup how do you then restore it again ?

I tried using the following :

Get-SPBackupHistory -Directory \\cn180b\farmbackups$\ -ShowBackup

But that does not return anything.

Kind Regards

Hi Rene,

The script generates a folder structure and places the farm backup in its own directory call Farm. The spbrtoc.xml (backup/restore table of contents)  is stored in the Farm directory. So the correct syntax should be: Get-SPBackupHistory -Directory \\cn180b\farmbackups$\Farm -ShowBackup

Hope this helps.....

Incidentally, I am currently putting together a blog post to explain the restore process but essentially, you can use Central Admin or the Restore-SPFarm cmdlet

Thanks Darren,

I don't why but the first time i ran the backup script it did not place anything in the Farm directory.

After running it again it works and i can do a Get-SPBackupHistory and also a Restore-SPFarm.

Thanks for a cool script :)
